DSG Adaptation Procedure

Preparation

  1. Warm Up Transmission: Start the car and let it idle for about 10-15 minutes to warm up the transmission. The temperature should be between 40-50 degrees Celsius.
  2. Connect VCDS: Plug in the VCDS interface to your car's OBD-II port and start the VCDS software on your computer.

Adaptation Process

  1. Monitor ATF Temperature:
    1. Go to "Select Control Module."
    2. Choose "02-Auto Trans."
    3. Select "Adv. Meas. Values."
    4. Search for "ATF Temperature."
    5. Monitor the temperature and ensure it is within the specified range (40-60 degrees Celsius).

  2. Erase Start/Stop Process Counter:
    1. Go back to the main screen.
    2. Select "02-Auto Trans" again.
    3. Choose "Basic Settings."
    4. From the dropdown, select "Erase Counter for Start Stop Process."
    5. Click "Go." Wait for the status bar to show "Running," then "Not Running."
    6. Click "Stop," then "Go Back."

  3. Clutch Valve Calibration:
    1. With the engine running, select "Basic Settings" again.
    2. From the dropdown list, choose "Clutch Valve Calibration."
    3. Click "Go." The RPM will rise slightly as the calibration is performed. Wait for the status bar to show "Finished Correctly."
    4. Click "Stop," then "Go Back."

  4. Distance Sensor Calibration:
    1. Select "Basic Settings."
    2. Choose "Distance Sensor Calibration."
    3. Click "Go." The DSG will make noises, which is normal. Wait for the status bar to show "Finished Correctly."
    4. Click "Stop," then "Go Back."

  5. Reset Start Point Adaptation to Factory Settings:
    1. Turn off the engine but leave the ignition on.
    2. Select "Basic Settings."
    3. Choose "Reset Start Point Adaptation to Factory Settings."
    4. Click "Go." Wait for the status bar to show "Finished Correctly."
    5. Click "Stop."

  6. Clutch Kiss Points Calibration:
    1. Start the car.
    2. Select "Basic Settings."
    3. Choose "Clutch Kiss Points" (may be labeled as "Engagement Point Adaptation").
    4. Click "Go." The process may repeat once and then show "Finished Correctly."

Final Steps

  1. Test Drive: Disconnect VCDS and drive the car normally for about an hour to allow the clutches to learn their new engagement points. Initially, drive in normal mode, then switch to sport mode for a second hour.
